You Already Saw This Post Coming

You saw it coming, so here it is. The video below is raw footage of the reaction in my court right outside my door after it was officially announced that Obama had officially won the presidency.

I also thought I'd share a picture with you I took this past summer.

"Kenyan's Blood in America"

That was in Narok, Kenya! Crazy, huh? I really enjoyed the speeches last night. McCain's concession speech focusing on the need to bridge the gaps and overcome differences to unite definitely speaks truth. Obama's speech was great as well. I like how he said immediately that him being elected isn't enough; change still needs to come. Now, I've never been a completely hardcore Obama supporter, but I'm glad he won. People criticized him as a celebrity and some call his win a fallacy, simply based on the fact that people were swooned by an effective marketing campaign. I think that's missing the point. Obama visited Google in November 2007 and he was asked the question, "What makes you better than any other candidate, what do you excel at?" He responded that he believed he could unite the country more than any other candidate. Look at the record breaking voter turnout numbers, look at his lopsided victory, look at the hope he's restored in so many Americans! I have faith that the change he brings can begin with a more united America.

Okay, I like your matatu picture, but you've got nothing on my "Barak Obama" Kenyan shuka. I think I'm going to make a blanket out of it (and if you tell anyone that I quilt, our budding friendship is over!)
